Our DCSRs play a vital role in assisting people who struggle to move independently, ensuring they get to and from essential medical appointments. Our commitment to safety, compassion, and professionalism makes a difference in the lives of those we serve.

To that end, we make sure they provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to ensure equal access and fair treatment. Part of our training program includes:

  • Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the ADA guidelines related to transportation services. The ADA prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities and mandates reasonable accommodations.
  • Open communication with passengers, asking about their specific needs and preferences.
  • Documenting any special requirements, such as mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers), service animals, or communication devices.
  • Assisting passengers with different disabilities, including proper wheelchair securement and transfer techniques.
  • Preparing to assist passengers in boarding and alighting and extra time for passengers with mobility challenges.
  • Some passengers may require communication aids (e.g., sign language interpreters, communication boards).

Most of all, we train our entire staff to treat passengers with kindness and empathy and to understand that disabilities vary and each passenger’s needs are unique.

Staff Monitoring

NEMT Solution LLC ensures our DSCRs adhere to applicable Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances on traffic safety regulations while on duty, such as “Don’t Text and Drive.”

We will ensure that the policy is reviewed by all direct care staff at least annually and when revisions are made by having each staff sign off/attest on an annual basis or when revisions are made. We will keep track of each staff attestation through a spreadsheet.

NEMT Solution LLC has a quality control manager who is responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s policy and procedure manual and adherence to our contractual obligations. As part of their duties, the manager ensures that any transportation issues brought up by the member, provider, case manager, social worker, and or driver are resolved within a reasonable time. Issues are required to be resolved within 24 hours of occurrence with a maximum timeline of 5 days. Resolutions are documented and, where applicable, used to develop new policies. They are also shared during our quarterly safety meeting.
